Sani Pass
Sani Pass is the only road acess between Kwazulu Natal and Lesotho. The
Sani Pass is a 4x4 trail through the Southern Drakesberg
 The Sani Pass developed from a horse track in the early 1900s to the steep
zigzagging 4x4 pass climbs the face of the Drakensberg
escarpment to an altitude
of 2874m. Sani Pass is now used for the most part by 4x4
vehicles and has become a highlight for tourists visiting the Southern
Drakensberg.
The Sani Pass is the only access from KwaZulu Natal to the the Lesotho Highlands.
Close to the Sani Pass summit is the highest
peak in Southern Africa, Thabane Ntlenyana, 3482m high.
 Sani Top Chalet is perched on the border between South Africa and Lesotho.
Sani Top has been described as one of the best-situated hotels on earth.
Sani Topis the only accommodation you will find at the top of Sani Pass
and it is also home to the highest pub in Africa. The only way to Sani Top
chalet from South Africa is via the Sani Pass.
 There are a number of 4x4 tour companies that will take you up Sani Pass
if you dont have an own 4x4 vehicle. In summer you will be greeted by waterfalls
and green slopes that sweep upward
to the base of towering basalt cliffs are dotted with the colour of a great
variety of wild flowers. Infact the Sani Pass is lined
with wild flowers. In winter the waterfalls freeze an there is a high chance
